The National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital, established in September 2012 in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, is Bangladesh’s only government-run tertiary neuroscience center. It is a 500-bed, 10-story hospital with departments covering neurology, neurosurgery, pediatric neurology, neurophysiology, neurointervention, neurorehabilitation, neuroradiology, neuropathology, and a 100-bed stroke unit. Equipped with modern operation theatres, ICU, HDU, and specialized labs, the institute provides 24/7 emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services—serving over 1,000 patients daily. It runs specialized clinics for stroke, epilepsy, headache, movement disorders, and more. The academic wing offers MD/MS/FCPS training under BSMMU & BCPS, alongside physician training, research, and international collaborations. Recognized with the Best Performance Health Minister Award 2020, the institute aims to be a center of excellence in neuroscience care and research.
